Should You Be Masturbating a Lot? By Eng Hou Ng

To be exact, it is actually ejaculation resulted from either by sex or masturbation that protect against prostrate cancer. While there are health advantages to the regular release of semen through sexual intercourse or masturbation, anything that you are doing in excess can become an addiction. But how can you know how much masturbation is too much?

There are no simple answers to this question. This is because too much masturbation cannot be determined only from the number of times you masturbate in a day or week.

Before finding out whether you masturbate too much, first you have to ask yourself:
(1) Is your masturbation causing you to feel uncomfortable, guilty and unhappy?
(2) Is your masturbation causing you to suffer unnecessary physical pain or damage?
(3) Do you find yourself in the situation of not being able to stop masturbating?

If your answer to either one of these four questions is a yes, it is probably that you are masturbating too much. However there is still no magic number to determine whether if you are over masturbating.

Suppose if you have been masturbating too much, should you totally stop masturbating?

Till now, there are no health studies that suggest we should totally refrain masturbating. If you feel you are masturbating too much, it is alright to take a break from it and to take some time to think what the factors that trigger your self-stimulation activity are.

Should you be feeling guilty if you think you masturbate too much?

Masturbation is not something that is immoral, so I do not think anyone should feel guilty about it. The way to handle this feel of guilt is to recognize that masturbation is part of sexuality and if done in moderation can give you benefits in the form of pleasure and prevention of prostrate cancer.

What can happen if you masturbate too much?

One possible side effect is the difficulty in reaching climax or temporary dampening of your sexual response. You may also notice that after each ejaculation, the subsequent erection within the next hour is less hard. Too much masturbation can cause over production of sex hormones. Depending on each person, he may experience one or more of the following problems - pelvic pain, vision changes, testicular pain, hair loss, lower back pain, and fatigue.

Though masturbation can lower risk of prostrate cancer, you should not totally rely on it because this has to be tied in with the following:
(1) maintain a balance diet
(2) maintain a healthy weight
(3) exercise regularly

At the same time, we should work on developing other interests/hobbies and on pursuing a relationship with another person so that you will, in time, develop a healthy, normal sexual relationship, and not one that is only dependent on self sexual gratification.
