Should You Be Masturbating a Lot? By Eng Hou Ng

To be exact, it is actually ejaculation resulted from either by sex or masturbation that protect against prostrate cancer. While there are health advantages to the regular release of semen through sexual intercourse or masturbation, anything that you are doing in excess can become an addiction. But how can you know how much masturbation is too much?

There are no simple answers to this question. This is because too much masturbation cannot be determined only from the number of times you masturbate in a day or week.

Before finding out whether you masturbate too much, first you have to ask yourself:
(1) Is your masturbation causing you to feel uncomfortable, guilty and unhappy?
(2) Is your masturbation causing you to suffer unnecessary physical pain or damage?
(3) Do you find yourself in the situation of not being able to stop masturbating?

If your answer to either one of these four questions is a yes, it is probably that you are masturbating too much. However there is still no magic number to determine whether if you are over masturbating.

Suppose if you have been masturbating too much, should you totally stop masturbating?

Till now, there are no health studies that suggest we should totally refrain masturbating. If you feel you are masturbating too much, it is alright to take a break from it and to take some time to think what the factors that trigger your self-stimulation activity are.

Should you be feeling guilty if you think you masturbate too much?

Masturbation is not something that is immoral, so I do not think anyone should feel guilty about it. The way to handle this feel of guilt is to recognize that masturbation is part of sexuality and if done in moderation can give you benefits in the form of pleasure and prevention of prostrate cancer.

What can happen if you masturbate too much?

One possible side effect is the difficulty in reaching climax or temporary dampening of your sexual response. You may also notice that after each ejaculation, the subsequent erection within the next hour is less hard. Too much masturbation can cause over production of sex hormones. Depending on each person, he may experience one or more of the following problems - pelvic pain, vision changes, testicular pain, hair loss, lower back pain, and fatigue.

Though masturbation can lower risk of prostrate cancer, you should not totally rely on it because this has to be tied in with the following:
(1) maintain a balance diet
(2) maintain a healthy weight
(3) exercise regularly

At the same time, we should work on developing other interests/hobbies and on pursuing a relationship with another person so that you will, in time, develop a healthy, normal sexual relationship, and not one that is only dependent on self sexual gratification. A Guide to Masturbation by Mike Dowd

Commonly, sexual orgasm is achieved by touching, stroking or massaging the penis or clitoris. Some women also use "sex toys," such as a vibrator to achieve sexual climax.

Who Masturbates?

Most people masturbate. There is no single group or category of people that masturbate. They can be single or in a relationship. One study recorded that 95% of males and 89% of females have masturbated.

Masturbation is one of the first sexual experiences most people encounter while growing up. It is normal for young males and females to explore their body and sexual feelings by masturbating. Most people continue to masturbate in adulthood, and many do so throughout their lives.

Why Do People Masturbate?

Basically, masturbation feels good. It is a good way of relieving sexual tension, and it costs nothing. Masturbation also is a safe sexual alternative to having sexual relations with a partner. There is no risk of catching a sexually transmitted disease. Other reasons for masturbation include semen samples for infertility programs or sperm donation. Masturbation can also be prescribed by sex therapists when sexual dysfunction is present. This can allow a person to experience an orgasm (often in women) or to delay its arrival (often in men).

Is Masturbation Normal?

Yes, masturbation is regarded as a normal, and a healthy sexual activity that is pleasant, fulfilling, acceptable and safe. There was once a time when masturbation was considered evil, perverse, even a sign of mental problems. Thank goodness those times have passed. In modern times, masturbation is only considered a problem when it is done in public, inhibits sexual activity with a partner, or causes significant distress to the person. (ie: religious grounds).

Is Masturbation Harmful?

There is no scientific evidence that points to masturbation being harmful. The old tales of "Masturbation will send you blind" etc are completely unfounded and have no logical or medical basis at all. Masturbation does not cause any physical injury or harm to the body. By exploring your own body through masturbation, you can determine what is erotically pleasing to you. Some experts advocate masturbation as a way to improve sexual health and relationships.
